John Monash Scholarship - FAQ's and Contact Information
FAQ's and Contact Information
When can I submit and application?
Applications open on the 1st of May and close on the midnight of 14th of July AEST. The Foundation accepts applications once a year, applications are not accepted outside of the set round each year.
I plan on completing an application in this Scholarship round, my proposed study starts later this year, am I eligible to apply?
To be eligible for the John Monash Scholarship you must plan on undertaking your postgraduate degree the year after application and selection. E.g. applying in 2019 for a Masters or PhD commencing at any stage in 2020. Please note that it is not a part of the eligibility criteria to have already been accepted into your degree. Depending on the application intakes for your proposed course of study you may not apply until after the Scholarship round is complete.
Is it possible to apply for the Scholarship to support two separate postgraduate degrees?
The Scholarship funding may only be used to support a whole postgraduate degree. For a postgraduate degree structure to be eligible for the Scholarship, it must be a full degree that is applied to and accepted by one application. For example, a full Masters/M.Phil or PhD/D.Phil. Applications for a dual Masters are only suitable if they fit this requirement of one application to guarantee entry to both, such as in the Oxford 1+1 style double masters.
Who should I nominate as referees?
You must have three references submitted with your application. Referees should be the most senior people who can speak to your leadership capabilities, whether they be an academic, professional or personal.
Is there average grade (distinction/high distinction) requirement to be eligible to apply?
There is no set GPA requirement as a part of the application eligibility criteria. However, the expectation is that the applicant can evidence their ability to get into their proposed degree of study and manage the academic rigour of a postgraduate degree. If there are variables in your grades throughout your academic career, it would be expected that applicants give context to this in their application.
When will I hear if my application is being progressed?
Applications close on the midnight of July 14th AEST. All applicants should expect to hear if they are being progressed to the state interview round around (approximately) the 15th of August. This notification will be by email.
I was unsuccessful in my application for the John Monash Scholarship this year, am I able to apply again next year?
There is no limit to the number of times you can apply for the John Monash Scholarship. Feedback from your prior application can be provided.
